Literacy Garden

Our second Water for Tomorrow demonstration garden is located at the Holland Landing Community Center. In 2009, with the Library Board, Friends of the Library and the Town of East Gwillimbury, we received the Trillium Grant from the Province of Ontario to develop a Literacy Garden. This large project includes paths, an arbor, trees, shrubs and perennials. In May 2010, benches were installed and the garden officially opened.  We continue to add water-efficient plants and spring bulbs to the beds each year and the native shade plants under the trees are doing well. In celebration of Canada's 150th birthday we planted 150 Canada 150 tulip bulbs in this garden.
